CLUB NIGHT: METHODist college, LARGE GYM

Our Members come from a varied mix of greater Belfast schools. We are proud of our ethnic and social diversity. We focus on inclusion, friendship, fencing and fitness. We run two sessions on a Tuesday back to back in the Large Gym at Methodist College , Belfast for an under 14 yr old group from 5.00 and for an over 14yr old group from 6.30pm. We will always start promptly (please arrive a minimum of 5mins BEFORE your session starts so that you are ready to begin on time). Please bring something to drink ( we recommend not fizzy drinks please) and a healthy snack ( eg fruit, granola bar ) for after training. Long socks are COMPULSORY for insurance purposes. All fencers are obliged to buy a licence from NI Fencing, our governing body, for insurance purposes. Fencing equipment is available from the club on a first come first served basis. If equipment is borrowed from the club - for competitions or training - it must be signed for in the Equipment Loan Register and signed out and back in by one of the coaches .

Tuesdays: 5.00-6.30pm: This session is for our young fencers under 14 years old who have previous fencing experience . Consequently we call it our Junior session. Usual ages are from 10 - 14yrs (depending on ability). A rota is set up for Junior fencers to stay on until 7.00pm periodically for a one-to-one lesson with the coach which allows for individual tuition and learning. This will be communicated by the Coach. Equipment is available depending upon attendee numbers.

Tuesdays: 6.30-8.30pm: Fencers over 14 years old with previous fencing experience (exceptions can be discussed with coaches to ascertain suitability if requested) who understand fencing basics and who have been fencing for 6 months or more. This is a technical night, with controlled sparring , technical exercises and fitness . The session is suitable for all fencers wanting to improve their overall fencing ability. Equipment is available depending upon attendee numbers.
